During certain periods of time in Russia, Capricorn was depicted as a Unicorn. In the Izbornik of Svyatoslav of 1073 - an ancient Russian handwritten book - there are images of the signs of the Zodiac, and Capricorn is written there as “goathorn” and it is there with just one horn. (Image 1)
Unicorns were depicted in many manuscripts and paintings throughout the Middle Ages, including this French drawing of the interior of a palace: "Les Magnificences publiques du carrosel fait en la place royale de Paris, Le jeudy V avril M.DC.XII et jours suyvans." (1612) (Image 3 and 4)
